Decorating the caramel apple hat:
Put the apple "base" onto a marshmallow mug to hold it. Use hot glue to attach the caramel to the apple.
Start by putting glue on the center "base" portion of the caramel and place it on top of the center of the apple.
Squeeze glue onto each "drip" of caramel, carefully straighten it out, and place it on the apple. Hold it in place until cooled.
Cut popsicle stick or lollipop stick to about 2 1/4 inches and hot glue to the center of the top of the hat.
Tie a small bow onto the stick and use hot glue to secure.
Pumpkin Spice latte mug hat pattern:
G 4.0 mm hook
With Desert Glaze yarn
ch 32
Being careful not to twist your chains, sl st to the first ch to make a ring.
row 1 – sc in each back bump of each of the chains, sl st to the first sc, ch 1 (31) Here's a video tutorial for this stitch.
rows 2-7 – sc in each stitch around, sl st to the first sc, ch 1 (31)
row 8 – sc in each stitch around, sl st to the first sc, do not chain (31)
Finish off and weave in ends.
Adding the whipped cream base to the pumpkin spice latte hat:
G 4 mm hook
With Antique White yarn
Attach Antique White yarn with a sl st and ch 1 (I usually do this at the beginning/end of rows of the Desert Glaze section).
-This entire section is done in the back loops only (blo) including the invisible decreases. (See above photo)
-DO NOT join rows. Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each row and move it when you start a new row. There's a tutorial here for making your own stitch markers.
row 1 – (1 sc in the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch), repeat around, do not join (40)
rows 2-3 – sc in each stitch around, do not join (40)
row 4 – (inv dec, sc in the next 2 stitches), do not join (30) Go here for a video tutorial for the invisible decrease stitch.
row 5 – (inv dec, sc in the next stitch), do not join (20)
row 6 – inv dec around, do not join (10)
row 7 – inv dec around, do not join (5)
Finish off, cut your yarn and leave about 4-6 inches of a tail. Use a darning/yarn needle and the tail to go under the back loops to tighten the last stitch.
Weave in the ends.
Adding whipped cream to the pumpkin spice latte hat:
Attach Antique White yarn with a slip stitch to the very first front loop from row 1.
Working to the left, hdc in each front loop around row 1 continuing into each of the following rows like a spiral.
I find it helpful to pinch below the front loop of the row you are working in so the loops are exposed and easy to get into.
Once you have finished crocheting into all the front loops, cut your yarn leaving a 4 to 6-inch tail.
Use a darning/yarn needle to pull the tail from the top of the hat to the inside and tighten but not so much that the whippy look of the whipped cream on top buckles.
Weave in the end.
You can use your fingers on the inside of the hat to push the whipped cream outward or pull up on the very top of the hat to “fluff” it up.
Decorating the Pumpkin Spice Latte Hat:
Download the fake logo in Cricut Design Space or any other program you feel comfortable using. If you need help uploading to Design Space, here's a tutorial.
Size the design to be 1 inch x 1 inch.
Print out the design, laminate or take to an office supply store to have laminated.
Cut out the design.
Hot glue to the front of the mug hat.
Using glitter glue or fabric paint, add “cinnamon” dots to the top of the whipped cream of the latte.
Cut a green pipe cleaner or a disposable straw about 1.25 inches tall and hot glue between rounds 3 and 4.
